This morning we head out with our guide to explore Lisbon, Portugal's bustling capital city. Located on the banks of the River Tagus as it joins the Atlantic, Lisbon has grown up around the many hills rising steeply from the waterside. The city is full of history and fascinating stories..
On our guided tour, we will pass by some of the most important locations in Lisbon, including the Parque Eduardo VII, Plaza del Marqués de Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade, Plaza de Rossio and other notable places in the centre.
We will then head down the river to Lisbon's Belém district, home to many of the city's most notable monuments and sites. Here we will pass by the Jeronimons Monastery, the iconic Belem Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries. We will also enter the Coach Musuem, a fascinating musuem showcasing numerous historic horsedrawn carriages from Portugal's Imperial times.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to explore Lisbon - why not visit St George's Castle, high on the hilltop, ride one of the iconic yellow trams, visit the bustling markethall food space down by the riverside or hit the shops.
In the evening, we head out for a special dinner, to a traditional fado show. Fado is a historic Portuguese style of music, originating in Lisbon, and you'll be entertained as we dine on local dishes.
